Alina Śmietana

Good luck!

installation

2021

An installation dealing with the issues of socio-economic opportunities, artist's visibility, status and the possibilities of a student of visual arts. As a whole, it is a modified workplace and consists of several segments dealing with the above-mentioned issues.

[...] The questions posed by Alina Śmietana generate further doubts, which is why they become important not only for the author. And although they remain unanswered, they broaden the horizon of perceiving the most current attitudes among the youngest generation of female artists. We can observe a certain pattern in the presented diploma thesis. An artist trying to establish herself directs her career in the world of art from a pink tourist chair, with the help of a specific support group, selected through negotiations with herself, according to a business plan developed in the field of abstraction. This is a huge challenge, maybe that's why the author needs a moment of forgetfulness in a spinning dance and talismans in the form of green, reflective, four-leaf clovers. I sincerely give the author a second and I believe that this risky game with reality, with art, with herself and with the roles she enters into will be successful and successful. It cannot be otherwise when the mission is to 'do good things for the audience', 'do not do too much - do just right', or finally 'do good as it is possible'. Good luck!
